Our mission at Wild About Travel is to help you discover the natural wonders and cultural gems on your bird tour, wildlife holiday or culture tour. We aim to make your life easier by bringing together the key information you need to prepare for your holiday. We advise on if you need a tourist visa, what the climate is like, what to wear and provide general “top tips” on how to stay safe. We provide checklists and suggest field guides and travel guides that you may enjoy reading before your trip.
Bird tours and wildlife holidays
Would you like to see an Andean Condor or Cock-of-the-Rock in Ecuador or a Tiger or Asian Elephant in India? Please call us or submit a short enquiry form by email and mention your target species. If your interests are more varied or general we will happily devise an itinerary to suit your expectations. We can also point you in the direction of a small group tour.
Culture tours
Let us not forget man-made wonders. The splendour and romance of India’s Taj Mahal is an ideal destination for a special occasion, perhaps an anniversary. A visit can be easily combined with other magnificent architectural sites. Enjoy a guided tour of historical Fatehpur Sikri World Heritage Site or Jaipur (the Pink City) and maybe combine it with a famous wildlife location.
Ecuador’s charming capital city, Quito, is often referred to as the Shangri-la of the Andes. Quito was one of the first ever cities (jointly with Krakow in Poland) to be designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Also worth mentioning is Ingapirca, Ecuador’s most important Inca archaeological site; a visit here can be coupled with time in Cuenca.
Listening to what you say
We genuinely want to get it right. It is important to us that you have the most amazing time possible and we thrive on knowing that we have succeeded. To achieve this we listen to your needs and offer our honest opinion as to whether a tour is right for you. It may be a small group tour where wildlife experts and bird or culture guides help unlock the secrets and potential of each location. Alternatively, for those who prefer independence, there are itineraries which lend themselves to exploring on your own with the support of a reliable driver.
We choose small, personal lodges where possible, although some itineraries include larger hotels or those within a chain where they are well-located. Overall we consider the cleanliness and quality of food to be of the utmost importance. In more remote areas we use the best accommodation available. Some of our tailor-made tours can be priced at low budget, mid budget, standard or deluxe prices and if you are looking for sheer luxury please do ask and we’ll investigate.
Bird and mammal checklists
For birdwatchers and wildlife enthusiasts we have bird and mammal checklists which we are regularly adding to and updating. We will happily supply you with a blank list to help you record your sightings.
Trip Reports
We will continue to add bird trip reports and completed checklists to our Trip Reports page. We are always grateful for reports that we can share online.
